Artist's Description

Honfleur, France. The harbor in the small town of Honfleur in Normandy lends itself to a triple view. The boats and old buildings I found here are captured in two paintings within the main painting, reminding us that more than one perspective is often needed to fully appreciate a scene and what it may offer.

Across the little harbor 16th- to 18th-century townhouses form the backdrop to the 15th-century St. Catherine's Church near the ships. These vaulted timber structures were erected by shipbuilders during medieval times.

In particular I was drawn to biology and oil painting at the same time. I struggled to merge these conflicting realities of facts and emotions, trying to determine which should prevail in my life.
