Description

Next to the stone quay gondolas bob in the waters of the Grand Canal near the Rialto Bridge. Their operators fussed over these iconic boats, preparing them for the tourists they hoped would seek a romantic ride on a sun-filled day. Restaurants line the waterfront, and we sat at an outdoor table there and had a leisurely lunch, while watching people negotiate fares and push off for a classic adventure down ancient canals past medieval buildings.
